This year, Halloween and Diwali fall so close together. I am ashamed to admit that I never heard about Diwali until I became a storyteller.
I was invited to tell holiday stories at a school in Foxboro. The person hiring me asked if I had a story for Diwali. Despite the fact that it's celebrated by more than a billion people, I'd never heard of it!
I've never been much of one for cultural appropriation, so (after doing some research), I came up with my own unconventional tale – "The Gold Coins"."
